Unless you’ve been living under a rather large rock, you might have noticed the incredible boom in boutique gin distilleries, which makes us kinda amp’d. If you’re new to gin, where the hell do you start with half a million different versions on the shelf these days? Let’s give you a bit of cheat sheet here without taking a second mortgage. Here is a list of Gins that you can get for under $100 that we think you should definitely add to the liquor cabinet and get your gin on. The right way hombre.
Tanqueray - $46
Tanqueray London Dry Gin is one of the world's favourite Gins. Known for pristine quality and a pure, clean taste, Tanq is distilled four times. Made from only the world's finest botanicals, Tanqueray is the perfect Gin for your G&T or simply on the rocks.
Four Pillars Spiced Negroni - $90
This gin was the first collaboration in Four Pillars ‘Bartender Series’ and was originally the result of a conversation between distiller Cameron and leading bartender Jason Williams - they wanted to create a gin specifically for the Negroni. #nailedit Four Pillars Spiced Negroni Gin is a highly aromatic, rich and (yes) spicy gin with great power and intensity. They added an exotic West African spice called Grains of Paradise, one of the most unusual spices in the world, with clove and sichuan characters but although very powerful, the spice tends to glow rather than become hot. Four Pillars also used beautiful organic blood oranges in the botanical basket, as well as some ginger. These wonderfully fragrant fresh botanicals help lift the spice to another level. Finally, they opened up the plates to add weight and intensity to the gin.
Poor Toms Dry Gin - $70
The original. Our Sydney Dry Gin is unlike any other. We steep 10 botanicals in Australian wheat spirit, which is then distilled in our little German copper still. You'll notice a classic juniper backbone complimented by fresh green apple, native strawberry gum leaf, and chamomile. It is an easy drinking gin - delicate, fresh, and floral. Perfect in a strong G&T, a gin and soda, or a dry martini. For more delicious results, serve with a strawberry.
Garden Grown Gin - $83
Created to capture as purely as possible the essence of the garden in Summer, this is the original Garden Grown Gin.
McHenry Navy Strength - $100
Multi-award winning high strength navy style gin; twice being judged best in class at the Australian Distilled Spirits awards, with a robust infusion of lime as a nod to the mariners in the days of sailing. Also helps if you’re the southern most distillery in Australia. You gotta make your stuff tough and this is heavy duty.
